General Information

The flight season of this species overlaps with that of the August Thorn so this cannot be used to distinguish them.

 

Pupates in spun leaves.

Overwinters as Overwinters as an egg.
Both sexes readily come to light, sometimes in numbers.

Forewing length: 17-21mm.
Foodplant(s): oaks (Quercus spp.), birches (Betula spp.), lime (Tilia spp.), Beech (Fagus sylvatica)
Flying: One generation, July-early October
