General Information

This is one of three species (Marbled Minor, Rufous Minor and Tawny Marbled Minor), which can only be reliably separated by dissection of the genitalia.

 

This species often has a tawny or bronzy colouration.

 

Pupates amongst the roots of the food plant.

Overwinters as Overwinters as a larva.
Both sexes come to light.

Forewing length: 11-13mm.
Foodplant(s): Cock's-foot (Dactylis glomerata), grasses
Flying: One generation, late May-late July

Grassland, woodland, scrub, heathland, fens and gardens.
