Adults can most often be found sitting on the trunks and branches of trees and shrubs, often flying only a short distance to another branch or nearby tree or shrub, hugging the the trees and shrubs rarely flying out into the open especially in hot weather. They can also be found sitting on the leaf litter in light, especially oak, woodland.

Larvae feed on grasses.

Hot, dry woodland edges, light woodland, glades and open scrub.

Widespread in the southern half of Bulgaria south of the Stara Planina. Occurs more locally north of here.

Recorded in 52 (2.7%) of the 1900 10km squares of Bulgaria.
