This butterfly is generally common and widespread in Bulgaria from low to moderate altitudes. It is less frequently seen in June, when specimens are often worn. We have recorded it up to late June, but not in July.

It occurs in flowery and damp meadows and woodland clearings. Larvae feed on a wide range of legume species (Fabaceae), including shrub species.

It overwinters as a pupa.

Recorded in 40 (2.1%) of the 1900 10km squares of Bulgaria.
