General Information

This species is the most widespread and common of the UK 'kittens'.

 

Pupates in a hard cocoon incorporating macerated wood on the food plant.

Overwinters as Overwinters as a pupa.
Both sexes readily come to light, sometimes in numbers.

Forewing length: 14-18mm.
Foodplant(s): willows (Salix spp.), Aspen (Populus tremula), poplars (Populus spp.)
Flying: Two generations, May-June and July-August
UK Presence: Resident

Woodland, scrub and carr.
