General Information

As in the rest of Europe the Large White is a widespread and common species in Bulgaria, and though often on our site lists we only seem to see it in ones and twos, unlike other whites which can be much more numerous.

 

This species and the Small White are both also known as the Cabbage White.

Overwinters as Overwinters as a pupa.

Wingspan: M: 58mm, F: 63mm
Foodplant(s): cabbages (Brassica spp.), Wild Cabbage (Brassica oleracea), Rape (Brassica napus), crucifers (Cruciferae)
Flying: Two generations, April-June and July-early September
UK Presence: Resident

Habitat

Anywhere.

Recorded in 98 (5.2%) of the 1900 10km squares of Bulgaria.
