General Information

This species has a straw-coloured forewing, with a dark streak running from the wing tip to join the fine, dark outer cross -lines. The outermost area is pale and there is a darker central cross-band which is paler around the small black central dot, its outer edge angled around it. The intensity of the markings varies.

Overwinters as Overwinters as a larva.
Male readily comes to light, sometimes in numbers. Female not.

Forewing length: 11-14mm.
Foodplant(s): Marsh Bedstraw (Galium palustre), Heath Bedstraw (Galium saxatile)
Flying: Two generations, late May-June and August-September
UK Presence: Resident

Habitat

Fens, marshes, bogs, water meadows, damp woodland and ditch banks.
