General Information

This is a highly variable species.

 

Pupates in the leaves of the food plant.

Overwinters as Overwinters as a larva.
Both sexes readily come to light, sometimes in numbers.

Forewing length: 14-19mm.
Foodplant(s): sallows (Salix spp.), birches (Betula spp.), Bilberry (Vaccinium myrtillus), Bramble (Rubus fruticosus), Heather (Calluna vulgaris), privets (Ligustrum spp.), hawthorns (Crataegus spp.), broadleaved shrubs
Flying: Two generations, May-June and late August-early October
