General Information

This species is quite variable, with two distinct colour forms. In additional to the brownish nominate form, there is a melanic form, f. combusta.

 

Pupates in loose soil amongst roots.

Overwinters as Overwinters as a larva.
Both sexes readily come to light, sometimes in numbers.

Forewing length: 18-22mm.
Foodplant(s): Cock's-foot (Dactylis glomerata), grasses
Flying: One generation, late May-July
UK Presence: Resident

Habitat

Grassland, fens, woodland, heathland, scrub and gardens.

Regional Information

There are no records in the system yet in Bulgaria.
