General Information

The 'Ear' moths, or Amphipoea species are so alike that it is not usually reliable to distinguish them without genital examination.

 

Pupates in leaf litter.

Overwinters as Overwinters as an egg.
Both sexes come to light.

Forewing length: 14-17mm.
Foodplant(s): Purple Moor-grass (Molinia caerulea), Common Cottongrass (Eriophorum angustifolium)
Flying: One generation, August-September
