In Europe it only occurs in a few scattered locations in eastern Europe. It is absent from many parts of Bulgaria, but is widespread and can be quite common in north-west Bulgaria from south of the Stara Planina extending to the far NW and west into Serbia. It also occurs very locally along the Black Sea coast south of Bourgas.
Overwinters communally in a larval web on the host plant.
Occurs in open shrubby flowery meadows and woodland glades.
Recorded in 19 (1%) of the 1900 10km squares of Bulgaria.
