Widespread and often common throughout Bulgaria, from sea-level to 1500 masl and sometimes higher.
A species of ruderal habitats (which abound in Bulgaria), where certain species of Mullein (Verbascum) grow. Quite a few mullein species grow in Bulgaria, the Lesser Spotted Fritillary does not seen to feed on all of them. Part or full grown larvae can often be found on appropriate mullein species, often very visible on the surface of the leaves.
