General Information

This moth closely resembles S. salicis, but is smaller, more coarsely scaled and with a narrower angled fascia.

 

The larvae create a narrow gallery mine which expands into a small blotch.

Overwinters as Overwinters as a pupa.

Wingspan: 4-5mm.
Foodplant(s): Crack-willow (Salix fragilis), White Willow (Salix alba), Osier (Salix viminalis), Weeping Willow (Salix babylonica), Purple Willow (Salix purpurea), Bay Willow (Salix pentandra)
Flying: Two generations, May and August
