General Information

The adults are charcoal-grey with a distinct yellow head and two sets of raised scale-tufts on their forewings.

The adults fliy in morning sunshine around branches of hawthorn and rest with spread wings and waving antennae.

Flies during the day

Wingspan: 12-14mm
Foodplant(s): hawthorns (Crataegus spp.)
Flying: One generation, May-June

Habitat

Woodland edges, scrub and hedgerows.
