General Information

This species is variable with the central bar sometimes appearing broken on each forewing.

 

Pupates in leaf litter.

Overwinters as Overwinters as a pupa.
Both sexes readily come to light, sometimes in numbers.
Often disturbed during day

Forewing length: 14-16mm.
Foodplant(s): hawthorns (Crataegus spp.), Blackthorn (Prunus spinosa), Downy Birch (Betula pubescens), Pedunculate Oak (Quercus robur), broadleaved trees
Flying: One generation, May-early July

Woodland, scrubland, heathland and gardens.
