General Information

Although the ground colour is quite variable, this species can be readily identified by the diagnostic diagonal dash near the leading edge of the forewing.

 

Pupates in loose soil.

Overwinters as Overwinters as an egg.
Both sexes readily come to light, sometimes in numbers.

Forewing length: 15-18mm.
Foodplant(s): buttercups (Ranunculus spp.), clovers (Trifolium spp.), chickweeds (Stellaria spp.), hawthorns (Crataegus spp.), herbaceous plants, broadleaved trees
