General Information

Not uncommon in the Rila and Pirin mountains and also on Vitosha and Alibotush (SLavyanka Mountain). Occurs in the sub-alpine and lower alpine zones up to about 2300m. It altitudinal range is lower than, but overerlaps with, Shepherd's Fritillary (Boloria pales) and so the two species may be found flying together.

 

Flies mainly in July.

Open grassland mountain slopes and large glades on coniferous forest edges.
