General Information

This species has a variable brown to reddish ground colour.

 

Pupates in loose soil.

Overwinters as Overwinters as a pupa.
Both sexes come to light.

Forewing length: 17-22mm.
Foodplant(s): birches (Betula spp.), Hazel (Corylus avellana), Alder (Alnus glutinosa), Aspen (Populus tremula), sallows (Salix spp.), hawthorns (Crataegus spp.), lime (Tilia spp.), oaks (Quercus spp.), Beech (Fagus sylvatica), Rowan (Sorbus aucuparia), Rosaceae (Rosaceae spp.), broadleaved trees
Flying: Two generations, late April-June and August-early September
