Widespread but very local in Bulgaria, generally associated with it's foodplant, Bladder Senna (Colutea arborescens). However it is the largest of the blues in Europe and is a strong flyer, and may be found away (several kilomtres, Tolman & Lewington 2008), from areas where it's foodplant grows.
It has one main generation flying in May and June, but has a partial 2nd generation in August to September (Tari Haahtela et al 2019). On several occasions we have recorded fresh individuals well into July, suggesting a second generation or perhaps an extended flight period.
Larvae feed inside the "bladders" (seed capsules) of the foodplant and can be found feeding on the seeds.
Overwinters as a pupa.
