The paler ground colour of the forewing and more distinctive longitudinal streak distinguish this species from E. hohenwartiana.

Wingspan: 15-23 mm.
Foodplant(s): thistles (Carduus spp.), Black Knapweed (Centaurea nigra)
Flying: Two overlapping generations, June-August
